Approach to Care
Sophia specializes in orthopedic acupuncture and a wide range of internal medicine concerns, including reproductive and digestive health, stress-related conditions, and hormonal balance. She is passionate about helping patients find relief while addressing the underlying patterns that contribute to their symptoms. Fluent in both English and Spanish, Sophia is committed to creating an inclusive, supportive environment where patients feel empowered throughout their healing journey.
What to Expect
Sophia takes a warm, attentive, and collaborative approach to care. Her treatments are tailored to each individual and may include electro-acupuncture, herbal medicine, trigger point needling when appropriate, as well as complementary therapies such as cupping and gua sha. Throughout every treatment, she places a strong emphasis on calming and regulating the nervous system, recognizing its central role in both healing and resilience.
Background & Experience
Sophia is licensed and board certified in acupuncture and herbal medicine. She holds a Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine from the Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine College in Berkeley, graduating summa cum laude, and a Bachelor’s degree from Columbia University.
Her clinical experience includes an internship with the University of California Berkeley Athletic Department, where she treated both Olympic and collegiate athletes. She continues to deepen her expertise in sports medicine and orthopedic care through her training with Dr. Anthony Von der Muhll. She also has served as a volunteer at the Charlotte Maxwell Clinic, providing supportive care to underserved women undergoing cancer treatment.
Philosophy
Sophia’s practice is grounded in a strong foundation of Western anatomy and physiology, informed by the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She believes that effective healthcare begins with listening and that healing is most successful when patients feel like active participants in their care. Her treatments are designed not only to relieve symptoms, but to help patients return to the activities and experiences that bring them joy—whether that means getting back to the gym, playing pickleball, sleeping soundly through the night, or simply moving through daily life with greater ease.
Outside the Clinic
Outside of work, Sophia enjoys weightlifting, baking sweet treats, long walks with her two dogs, tending to the tomatoes in her garden, and spending perhaps a little too much time perfecting her skincare routine.
