Approach to Care
Yen takes a thoughtful, integrative, and preventative approach to care, combining acupuncture, herbal medicine, and modern clinical insight to support both immediate relief and long-term health. Her philosophy is grounded in the idea that less is more, prioritizing precise, effective treatments with a strong emphasis on safety, anatomy, and clinical reasoning.
She works collaboratively with other healthcare providers to ensure well-rounded, personalized care that addresses root causes rather than simply managing symptoms.
What to Expect
Treatments with Yen are both results-driven and grounded. She takes the time to understand your full health picture before creating a tailored treatment plan that may include acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, microcurrent, infrared light therapy, herbal medicine, and supplement support. Her goal is to help you feel better quickly while building a strong foundation for long-term health and resilience.
Background & Experience
Yen is licensed and board-certified in acupuncture and herbal medicine in both California and the UK. She earned her Doctorate and Master’s degrees in Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine from the Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College in Berkeley, graduating summa cum laude. She also holds a diploma in naturopathic medicine from the UK and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of East Anglia.
Her advanced training includes orthopedic and sports medicine externships with Dr. Jenny Nieters, team acupuncturist for the San Francisco 49ers, as well as experience supporting athlete care at UC Berkeley. She is also continuing her specialization in the treatment of neck, shoulder, and low back pain.
Yen has pursued additional training in Japanese acupuncture techniques, including cosmetic facial acupuncture at Shikoku Medical College in Japan and Shonishin, a gentle, non-invasive pediatric treatment designed to support infants and children.
In addition to her work at the clinic, Yen splits her time with BlueWave Medicine, an integrative medicine concierge practice located in San Francisco’s Presidio. Her experience working alongside physicians and other healthcare professionals further informs her collaborative and patient-centered approach to care.
Before entering healthcare, Yen worked in management consulting, bringing a structured, analytical, and evidence-informed perspective to clinical practice.
Philosophy
Yen’s approach is deeply shaped by her own healing journey. After overcoming chronic eczema, hormonal acne, and digestive issues through Chinese medicine, she developed a strong belief in the body’s ability to heal when given the right support. She blends traditional wisdom with evidence-based practices to help patients achieve lasting, sustainable results.
Outside the Clinic
Outside of the clinic, Yen enjoys spending time outdoors, type 2 fun, and good food. An avid hiker and adventurer, she has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and completed numerous treks around the world. She also enjoys keeping up with the latest research in skincare, supplements, and emerging wellness therapies. Yen is fluent in Cantonese and a proud dog mum.
